Working at all levels of society to reduce impact of HIV and AIDS

Our Regional Health and AIDS Initiative for Southern Africa (RHAISA) co-ordinates our response in the region where two out of every three people in the world living with HIV reside.

Around 37 million people are living with HIV. We minimise the impact of the pandemic by working at all levels of society to:

• Support communities demanding better testing and healthcare
• Advocating for the rights of caregivers
• Ensuring there is good quality antiretroviral coverage
• Working with government to legalise fairer treatment for anyone living with the virus

RHAISA supports work across eSwatini, Malawi, Mozambique, Lesotho, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Improving access to HIV and health services for prisoners in southern Africa

Health services provided in prisons settings are often substandard and under-funded, characterized by shortage of staff and of essential medications.

Dignity and increased income for people affected by HIV

Over its lifetime, we expect POPA to support well over a thousand women access a sustainable income. More than half the women supported are also trained as HIV and AIDS caregivers and community outreach workers.

Improving sexual and reproductive health in Zambia

Mobilising young people through volunteering, working in partnership and changing attitudes.
