Employee volunteering

At VSO, we fight global poverty and disadvantage by strengthening the capacity of individuals and organisations in developing countries. To do this we place skilled workers from a variety of professional backgrounds with our partner organisations. By sharing your skills, expertise and experience you can help build a fairer world.
What are the benefits of volunteering?

Employee volunteering allows your company to:

  • complement existing in-house leadership skills and development goals

  • demonstrate a commitment to staff learning, motivate staff and aid employee retention and satisfaction

  • apply your employees' core business skills in a different context to help deliver our development goals.

VSO Business Partnerships

VSO Business Partnerships are tailored to the relevant interests and focus of your organisation, and designed to deliver real business value.  We integrate an organisations objectives and stakeholder interests with its CSR and HR policies to create package of benefits with international placements for your employees at the heart of the partnership. See these partnerships at work with our Accenture and AstraZeneca case studies.

VSO Business Associates

VSO Business Associates (VBA) is a membership scheme for companies wanting to offer employees direct access to inspiring, skill-building secondment opportunities with VSO. Employees can volunteer to share their professional expertise through placements across the world. Becoming a VBA also raises vital funds for our international development work.

For more information about VBA and how to join visit our VBA website.

If you would like to discuss any of the above opportunities or UK-based volunteering placements, please email Gerry Thompson at gerry.thompson@vso.ie or call 01 640 1060.
