Power supply in Nigeria 'gets lift'
29/06/2010
Power generation and electricity supply in Nigeria is to be given a boost, it has emerged.
According to Vanguard, the country's federal government is set to sign a gas supply purchase agreement with Addax Petroleum Development Corporation.
The deal is believed to include the supply of 100 million standard cubic feet of gas each day.
This amount would fire one of the power stations under the National Integrated Power Plant, the news source noted.
Adebanji Babarinde, the executive director of oil service firm Kaztec Engineering, commended President Goodluck Jonathan for his part played in proceedings.
He said the government had "successfully sorted out the issue of gas pricing and gas supply to enhance generation and distribution of electricity in the country".
Mr Jonathan recently reiterated his pledge to always provide good governance under his leadership and will ensure the upcoming national elections are organised fairly and the votes counted correctly.
