Ugandans 'do not want president re-elected'
01/06/2010
A majority of Ugandans would not like to see the re-election of the country's president.
Just less than 70 per cent of those quizzed in a survey commissioned by the Daily Monitor and the Deepening Democracy Programme said they do not want president Museveni to enter the general election in 2011.
This is despite most people revealing they are generally content with the way the politician has led the country in recent years.
Around 67 per cent of those quizzed stated they were either "satisfied" or "very satisfied" with the work Mr Museveni has done.
The opinion poll was conducted nationwide between April 19th and May 6th by TNS/Research International and discovered 68 per cent answered "no" when challenged on whether they wanted Mr Museveni to remain in power.
Recent reports have revealed the Ugandan Lord's Resistance Army has been attempting to block aid from reaching displaced persons from the Central African Republic.
