Welcome

Trek for VSO in 2011
At 5,895m, Mt. Kilimanjaro is one of the largest volcanoes ever to break through the Earth’s crust. Your challenge is to trek to its summit! You will join a team of climbers who have fundraised for VSO Ireland to take part together in the challenge.

Kilimanjaro is the only one of the famous 'seven summits' (the tallest mountains on each of the continents) that can be climbed with no technical experience, making it an achievable challenge for those who are prepared to train for the ascent.

We are ascending via the Rongai route, which is recognised as both the most beautiful and least difficult climb to the 'Rooftop of Africa'.

The Rongai route starts just south of the Kenya-Tanzania border and has been mostly unused for many years. Now open for trekking once again, experienced guides consider this ascent route to be both more managable and more beautiful than the main Marangu trail. View itinerary
