Why raise awareness
VSO is not just about sending volunteers overseas. We are also committed to public engagement – we want returned volunteers, teachers, students and anyone interested in global affairs to become active global citizens.
Being a global citizen means considering how your day-to-day actions in Ireland affect people living in poorer countries.
You can raise awareness by supporting a VSO campaign.
Locally you can raise awareness too. You can do this by:
running a fundraiser
volunteering in your community
holding a talk on your VSO volunteer experience
signing a petition
buying fairtrade goods
simply talking about your thoughts on global development.
