How we are funded

VSO depends on funding from a wide range of sources to keep our work going. Our work would not be possible without funding and donations from Irish Aid, trusts, private companies and the general public.

As a charity organisation operating in Ireland, we receive donations from:

  • Individuals
  • Businesses
  • Irish government via Irish Aid
  • Trusts & Foundations

VSO Ireland has collaborated with Irish Aid, the Irish government’s overseas aid programme since our establishment in 2004. In 2013, VSO Ireland and Irish Aid entered a new strategic funding agreement.  Find out more about our relationship with Irish Aid

We are extremely grateful for the repeated support of foundations including ElectricAid, Bishops’ Appeal and the Irish National Teachers’ Association (INTO).  The contributions from these and other foundations enabled women in Zimbabwe to reduce the amount of time they spend collecting fuel through the provision of fuel efficient stoves, empowered young people to educate their peers about HIV in Mozambique and helped primary schools in Uganda to  improve the quality of education.

Transparency and value for money is important to VSO Ireland. Read our most recent annual report or annual financial statements
